The Symposium continued through Day three with the same outstanding quality of information and presentation as before. The highlights of the day, for me, were the presentations on strategic technologies for 2007 and on working with boards of directors.
The 2007 strategic technologies include open source, virtualization and information access. Also in the top 10 is a Business Process Platform. I think the Business Process Platform may actually be the most important, rather than open source. If business needs are not met with quality and timely results, the rest of the technological advancements may not be significant.
Whether you work with a board of directors or not, most of us work with senior executives and directors to accomplish our goals. The first message is to know your audience. Next, present information to them that is necessary for them to do their jobs well, conveying it in a brief and concise manner. This was one of the best presentations I've attended, partly due to the refreshing blend of humor and information. Tina Nunno obviously knew her audience well!
